Ahmad Shahzad the colourful chair of Labour's BAME is on the final shortlist of four in the Labour stronghold of Leyton/Wanstead a constituency in East London with a Muslim population of 20%.
The selection is due to Harry Cohen the MP and one of the biggest trouffers to emerge from the expenses saga standing down from Parliament.
Ahmad Shahzad seems to be up against a local journalist ironically called Hack who cant even get his name the right way round. Amongst others on the shortlist is Jon Cryer who himself was immersed in expenses difficulty when an MP. Cryer comes from yet another family dynasty with his mum Ann Cryer the MP up north in Bradistan.
Shahzad has made clear in his address to members that he opposes the war in Afghanistan for which he has my strong support.
